More events will take place along the coast thanks to Active Coast’s walking sessions during the Easter half term to encourage people to experience the stunning East Yorkshire coastline.

12 April

A short family walk will take place on Tuesday, 12 April from 10am-12noon at Sewerby Hall’s “Gate Arch” carpark (YO15 1ED).

The walk will head north along the coast looking for the Coastsnap photo posts between Sewerby and South Landing.

The Coastsnap project has been developed by Active Coast and Visit East Yorkshire, whilst also in partnership with the University of Hull, and focuses on coastal erosion so not only will it be an amazing walk, but the pictures taken will help the study of East Yorkshire’s coastal erosion.

Visitors should bring a packed lunch and a drink to enjoy along the way and ensure they are dressed for the weather - walking shoes or boots are recommended.

14 April

A short sea front walk will take place in Hornsea on Thursday, 14 April from 10am-12noon with another chance to help the study of East Yorkshire’s coastal erosion by looking for the Coastsnap photo posts along the way.

The meeting point is at Morrow Avenue car park HU18 1NQ and visitors will head south along the promenade.

21 April

A short walk will start at Pier Towers in Withernsea on Thursday, 21 April from 10am-12noon and will initially head north and return back at Pier Towers before continuing south of the towers for the second part of the sea front walk.

The walk will look for the Coastsnap photo posts in Withernsea.

The Coastsnap project focusses on coastal erosion will help the study of East Yorkshire’s coastal erosion.

Councillor Mike Medini, portfolio holder for culture and leisure at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Yet again the Active Coast team has brought us a variety of activities and locations where we can take part in outdoor explorations in some of the most beautiful parts of the East Riding.

“Getting involved in these sessions gives us the opportunity to get out in the fresh air, stretch our legs and take in the scenery around us whilst meeting new people.”
