Humberside Police target motorcycle safety with ‘2Wheel’ Operation

Humberside Police is supporting a national campaign aimed at improving safety for motorcyclists and cyclists.

Running from Tuesday, 2 June to Monday, 15 June 2026, the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) 2Wheel Operation focuses on reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads.

Motorcyclists remain disproportionately represented in road traffic collisions across the UK.

In the Humberside area, between May 2025 and May 2026, there were 266 road traffic collisions involving motorcyclists, including 102 serious injury collisions and 13 fatal collisions.

The NPCC 2Wheel Operation is being delivered locally alongside Humberside Police’s wider work under #OP APEX, which aims to reduce motorcycle-related harm through a coordinated approach of education and engagement.

Over the coming weeks and throughout the summer, Roads Policing Units will be engaging with motorcyclists and other vulnerable road users to promote safer riding behaviour, alongside carrying out engagement activity where appropriate.

There are a range of initiatives aimed at improving rider safety and awareness.

BikeSafe is a national police-led initiative designed to help motorcyclists improve their riding skills and road awareness in a relaxed environment. The workshop includes classroom-based learning followed by an observed ride with an experienced police rider, who provides tailored feedback on riding technique and hazard awareness.
