The Humberside Roads Policing Team are continuing to target drink and drug driving during January. This includes an increased number of roadside breath and drug tests, and vehicle checks in areas where collisions have previously occurred.
Between 1 December and 31 December, officers carried out 1,458 breath tests and 94 drug tests. Officers arrested 89 people for drink driving, 66 for drug driving and 11 individuals who failed to provide a specimen.
Inspector John Rickells from the Roads Policing Unit said:
“My officers will be out across the force area conducting roadside testing alongside their usual duties to ensure our roads remain safe for all motorists. The message is clear: any amount of drink or drugs affects your driving. It’s never worth the risk. Enforcement takes place all year round, not just during the festive season. If you are over the limit, you will be arrested, no excuses.”
