The Trustees of the High Sheriffs’ & Humberside Police Tribune Trust have awarded a grant for £2,000 to the Seaside Community Radio Station based in Withernsea.

The High Sheriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire Mr Jonathan Hall presented the cheque for that amount to Station Manager Justin Macartney at 10.30 AM on Thursday 13 November in the resort.

Seaside FM 105.3 is a new community radio station set up to provide media access and advocacy for the socially deprived and isolated communities in Southern Holderness. Guests on the station feature members of the emergency services, charity workers, volunteers and Parish Councillors. It has the strong support of Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness who commended it to the Tribune Trust.

The funds provided by the Trust will go towards a Weekend Winter Programme that will involve five young people from the area each weekend going to the studio, where they will be taught how to conduct an interview ‘on air’, use digital recording equipment, audio editing software and upload pod casts.

There will be live discussions on issues of relevant to young people with inputs as necessary from police officers, teachers and health workers.
