McCartney, Amstell and my Nan. This weeks Blog!!!!!

Alright?

How are things with you today then? It's Friday afternoon at about half past 2 and so here is this weeks slightly delayed Blog.

In stark contrast to last week it's been a pretty busy one for me, if you heard the programme on Sunday, you will have heard me wittering on about driving the length of the M62 to get to the Paul McCartney gig in Liverpool. Well, I managed it without incident and it was superb. Well worth the long journey and the return to my comfy bed at half 2 on Monday morning. If you saw any of it on the tele, I believe it was on BBC 2 at some point, then you won't need me to tell you how good it was, however, it was absolutely brilliant. Dave Grohl playing drums and singing on a few tracks, Peter Kay introducing him on stage, The Zutons supporting, even having the Kaiser Chiefs there couldn't dampen the mood. He did a lot of the classics, but also a few ones that you maybe wouldn't expect him to do, such as "Baby you can drive my car" "Got to get you into my life." and "Calico Skies" More on that, I'm sure, on Sunday.

Tonight I'm off to see Simon Amstell perform in Leeds. Incase you don't know who he is he used to host something called Popworld and now does never Never Mind The Buzzcocks, which it is fair to say he has succeeded in pulling out of the toilet (or 'revitalised' depending on how graphic you want to be.) I saw him do his last show a couple of years ago and it was excellent, described in The Independent as 'the nearest you will get to a man emotionally disemboweling himself onstage' which may not be everyone's cup of tea but is exactly what I want out of my stand up comics, so I am looking forward to another very funny evening.

Inbetween all of that I have re-watched Donnie Darko for about the 10th time, and drawn yet another different conclusion from it. The one constant, however, has always been that it is simply brilliant. An absolute masterclass of a film. Having said that, I wouldn't watch it if you're tired, or easily confused, you will just get lost in it.

And finally, yesterday I went back home for a little bit to take my Nan for lunch, although she paid, it's good how that works isn't it. I should really say Hi to her, even though she's as much chance of reading this as she has of seeing Elvis riding Shergar into her front garden tonight but still, Hi Nan!!

As for this Sunday, all the usual stuff will be present, Motown Half Hour which it has to be said is gaining in popularity by the week, True or False, Not Quite the Missing Words Quiz and What you have learnt this week. If there is anything you would like to say or a point you would like to make about anything or nothing, just give me a shout, through the week at daveonseasidefm@hotmail.co.uk, or the usual lines of communication during the show on Sunday.

For now, it's been a pleasure as always.
