Howdy!

Yes, hello again to listeners, anoraks, lovers, haters and stalkers of The Mike Brown Radio Show and welcome to my usual ramblings on my Seaside FM blog.

For those of you who haven't read my blogs before, it's kind of an extension of the show I do on Seaside FM every Sunday. Some of what are about to read is the bits I couldn't fit in last week and some of it is stuff that is just on my mind now that I would have forgotten about by the time it get's to Sunday!

Also, a few of you have been wondering what I've been getting up to off late, so I dedicate this one to YOU!

CIDER NEWS

A week or so ago I met up with the Hull Campaign for Real Ale lot in The George Hotel in Hull. It was a party set up to thank everybody for volunteering to work at the recent Hull Real Ale & CIDER festival. Now I don't want to appear to be ungrateful here, especially as we all got free drink and food, but as a supporter and drinker of Real Cider is it not a good idea to make sure there is some available? A pub crawl was even arranged afterwards, which took in many of the Real Ale only pubs, this is great if you like real ale but if CAMRA says it supports real cider too then it shouldn't it practice what it preaches? However, a piece of positive news now if you worship apple alcohol like myself, I've heard down the grapevine (or should that be apple tree?) that The Station Hotel in Patrington are planning to stock Real Cider shortly, I'll bring you the details when I get them (I.E when i go and sample some!)

COMEDY NEWS

A bit of good news on the Comedy front now too, John Gilbert (festival director of The Hull Comedy Festival) tells me that Russell Howard will be returning to open this year's Hull Comedy Festival with a show at The Hull City Hall in October.

Russell Howard will be bringing his new show, "Dingledodies" to Hull City Hall on Thursday 23rd October to kick-start Hull's second comedy festival. Russell joins a list of headliners which also includes Paddy McGuinness (from Channel 4's Max & Paddy and Pheonix Nights), Pete Firman (from Channel 4’s ‘Dirty Tricks’ and Five’s ‘Monkey Magic’) and Russell Kane (The "Face" of Five US) and Frankie Boyle, another one of the regulars on the BBC2 panel quiz "Mock The Week".

Remember, get out there and support comedy - it's a right laugh!

TELLY NEWS

The Apprentice was great last night, It's rapidly becoming my favourite programme on the box. 27-year-old entrepreneur Raef Bjayou was fired last night in a bit of a shock for anyone who watched, a shock because he was the favourite to win!

The task was to advertise a new brand of tissues by making a TV advert. However, Sir Alan told Raef that he'd "made the biggest error going...I don't know what your advert's about, It doesn't mention the word tissue once in the voiceover."

The Amstrad boss then said: "The one that's going, and with all due respect I think is a lot of hot air, Raef, you're fired!" Someone pass him the tissues!!

I've just read that Simon Cowell hates watching himself on TV, well I've got some news for him, I hate watching him on telly too!

After watching a montage of his scathing comments on the Ellen Degeneres Show he said that he found it difficult to witness his nasty remarks. However, he insists his nasty persona is necessary because it stops talentless hopefuls pursuing a career in the music industry. Well it didn't stop One True Voice, god do you remember them? They really were crap!

If you really don't like it that much Simon, maybe you could get off my sodding telly then!

MUSIC NEWS

Meanwhile, Madness have announced that on 24th & 25th June that they will unveil their 8th studio album in 10 years called "The Liberty of Norton Folgate, whatever that is?! This is great news as I've always been a fan of Suggsy and The Nutty Boys and they always come up with some cracking stuff. You can see and hear the title track from the new album by going to www.myspace.com/madnessofficial

Also in Music News, I read last week that Jazzie B, he of Soul II Soul fame, has received an OBE from the Prince of Wales for services to music. Now, I was tempted to ring Buckingham Palace and ask them what Prince Charles knows about music, I can hardly see him 'jamming' to Soul II Soul with Camilla can you? Still, well done to Jazzy B, "Club Classics Volume 1" remains one of my favourite albums to this day, I may dig it out for this Sunday's show.

Lastly, I can now reveal for the for the first time the real reason why Paul McCartney Heather Mills got divorced. Appartantly, it's because he bought her a plane for her last birthday....
...and a ladyshave for the other leg.

SPORTS NEWS

Apparantly, Hull City are playing on Saturday.
