The first day of resurfacing work on Preston crossroads carriageway begins today (Sunday).

The work is part of a programme of scheme to improve roads in the East Riding and is due to take place on five Sundays in July and August.

The work consists of replacing worn ironwork, existing carriageway surface, some kerbing and surfacing to footpaths.

It will be carried out on Sundays to minimise disruption to Heavy Goods Vehicles, public and school transport, commuter traffic and residents. The dates are 18th and 25th in July and 8th, 15th and 22nd August 2010.

Due to the restricted width of the road and to undertake the work safely, it will be necessary to close the crossroads to all traffic during 8.00am to 8.00pm. The council are asking residents to park vehicles away from the work area during working hours. Access will be via the roads approaching the crossroads.

Traffic will be diverted via Saltend, Thorngumbald, Burstwick, Daisy Hill, Lelley and the B1239 near Sandhill Garden Centre and the routes for EYMS bus services 78 and 277 will be revised.
