Hull’s ‘Big Summer Party in the Park’ : Saturday 4 September

The count down is on! Only two months to go until Yorkshire’s outdoor music event of the year, ‘Hull’s Big Party in the Park’.
Presented by Magic 1161, in association with Hull City Council and KC - "Proud to be part of local life", some of the best selling artists from the last 3 decades will be providing an evening of non-stop great music in East Park, Hull on Saturday 4th September 2010 at 7pm.
With a massive 45 top ten hits, the all-star line up is - Shakin’ Stevens, Bananarama, East 17, ABC, Imagination and Hull’s very own 80’s band Moscow.
Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Shakin’ Stevens’ first UK hit. Shaky and his 10 strong band will be the concert’s ‘very special guest’ at Hull’s Big Party in the Park 2010, performing hits, rock, rhythm and country blues from across the years of this truly unique artist’s career.
Shakin’ Stevens remains the UK’s 16th highest selling artist in the history of the charts with 25 top-twenty singles and more than a dozen top selling albums. This success is mirrored across Europe and many territories worldwide. The story continues……
ABC fronted by the charismatic Martin Fry, charted 10 UK and 5 US Top Forty singles between 1981 and 2009. The band recently celebrated their return to the recording studio and high profile performances, with a series of stadium dates supporting Robbie Williams.
Formed in 1992, East 17 have achieved a massive 18 UK Top Twenty singles and 4 Top Ten albums, and they were one of the UK's most popular boy bands.
Also joining the line-up is funky-soul band Imagination. Since first capturing our imagination in 1981 with ‘Body Talk’ lead singer Leee John went on to have another 7 Top Thirty hit singles and has sold in excess of 30 million albums worldwide.
After their outstanding performance last year, Bananarama are back in East Yorkshire. The band have had more hit singles than the Spice Girls, more album sales than Girls Aloud, they made 2 Band Aid appearances, and picked up an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest girl group, surpassing even the Supremes.
Kicking off the concert and reforming for one night only, Hull’s very own 80’s band Moscow will be performing again after a 25 year break.
Well-known local radio broadcasters and event organisers Tim Jibson and Dave Fewster from Premier Concerts Ltd have promised a party not to be forgotten. “It’s a chart-topping extravaganza and a wonderful chance for music fans to relax and party in the beautiful surroundings of Hull’s East Park”, said Tim.
The party evening will be hosted by Magic 1161’s well known DJ’s.
The gates open at 4pm and you’re invited to bring your own picnic, have fun in the fairground and enjoy the bars and the great selection of food before the 7pm start. The evening ends with a spectacular fireworks finale.
