Hornsea traders taught to cope with changes

As construction work starts on a new Tesco store in Hornsea, local traders are to be shown how to cope with potential businesses changes in their town.
The council granted permission for the new supermarket at the greenfield site off Southgate, which after it's built will see the creation of 318 car parking spaces, a petrol station and 270 jobs.
Despite good news on the jobs front and the majority of residents being in favour, local businesses fear the worse and in order to assist traders with their fears four local government agencies have got together to offer a one off free event on how business can plan for change and adjust their business plans to make the most of the new situation.
The Hornsea Area Renaissance Partnership, Business Link, East Riding Business Services and Hornsea Chamber of Trade will run the free event at the Number 10 Cafe, Market Place, Hornsea, on Monday March 15, at 6pm.
Among the speakers will be Peter Hemmerman, Market Weighton Chamber of Trade chairman, who will talk about the effect a Tesco had on his own town. You can book a place, free of charge by visiting the events sectbusinesslink yorkshire's website or by calling 08456 048048.
