Music News

There was a rumour knocking around that The Kinks might be getting back together, and being a bit of a fan of their music it's something I've kept a close eye on. Well, today Ray Davies has said that The Kinks ARE actually writing songs again, possibly for a new album.

Howdy!

You may have noticed the lack of a show recently, all I can say at this stage is that those in charge at Seaside FM are planning a re-launch shortly and the schedule will be re-jigged and I'm sure that they have some cracking shows lined up, keep coming back to www.seasideradio.co.uk for news about that.

Mike Brown's Pub of The Week: The New Clarence in Hull

Mike Brown's picture

Hi all

It's time for another Pub Of The Week and this week it's a Hull pub that has something for everyone!

I'm talking about The New Clarence which is situated in Hull City Centre, it's quite well hidden if your not used to the area, but just ask for directions as most Hull folk will know The Clarence. The original Clarence actually stood on the opposite side of the street to the current pub, a site now occupied by flats. The New Clarence has been converted from what was an old Co-op building on the corner of Charles and John Streets.

A Week in Radio...

Howdy Radio Fans!

This blog is for the anoraks and media geeks out there, it contains news about the radio stations being sold and bought. I suppose in a way it highlights how difficult the radio market has become to survive in.

First, lets start our radio tour off in Merseyside, home to the troubled KCR 106.7. The station has been sold for the 4th time in as many years - after afternoon presenter Jon Jessop had originally announced he bought the station in July and was going to re-launch KCR as The Edge.

Mike Brown's Pub Of The Week: The Spread Eagle in Withernsea

My Pub Of The Week this week is The Spread Eagle on Queen Street in Withernsea.

I've been to The Spead Eagle, or The Spead as the locals call it, on many occasions, even before my time working in Withernsea at Seaside FM. It's one of those pubs that prides itself on putting on bands, singers and artists regularly, so if your a fan of on the live music scene as I am, then chances are you've probably been to The Spread Eagle too.

Mike Brown's Pub Of The Week: The Hop and Vine in Hull

Howdy!

As there is a severe lack of real cider in Withernsea, I've decided to go cider hunting! decided to head to my home town to seek some refreshment!

I'm no stranger to this weeks featured pub, and can often be found frequenting it on my lunch or after a stressful day at work. The place I'm talking about is The Hop and Vine, which is a small bar on Albion Street in Hull.

BONG! Here is the news..

Hi all,

You may have heard about a new report that has been published today by a think tank saying that cities in the North - such as Hull, Sunderland and Bradford, are "beyond revival" and everyone living there should move south!

A mass migration to London, Cambridge and Oxford would stop residents becoming "trapped" in poorer areas, so say 'Policy Exchange'. They also said that current regeneration policies were "failing" the people they were meant to be helping.
