Radio Cardiff has become the latest station to cease broadcasting, just 10 months after launching as a community radio station in the Welsh capital. The station is not alone, as less than a month ago, London station TGR was forced to close due to tough financial conditions. Previously, a community radio station in Chelmsford also closed down due to lack of funds. Radio Cardiff began broadcasting with a five year Ofcom licence on October 8th 2007, and featured reggae, soul, jazz, funk and house music. It also provided local news and interviews.

Marathon Woman

Marathon Woman

Super fit mum Michele is currently pounding the Holderness lanes in training for the London marathon on April 13th. Michele, 46 and from Rimswell, is running to raise funds for the Withernsea Amateur Football Club and the South Holderness Swimming Club.

She is also in training for a swimming marathon - part of the national swimathon - for Marie Curie Cancer Care. She'll be making a splash at Hornsea Leisure Centre on April 20th, when she plans to swim for two hours.

As a busy mum of three, she also plays tennis and squash, hockey and netball.

"I've been running since I did the Race for Life eight or nine years ago and I just carried on with it" she said. She did the London Marathon in 2003, and has participated in several half marathons and taken part in swimming marathons - so she is not daunted by the challenges that lie ahead.

Anyone wishing to sponsor Michele to help the causes can contact her on 615380.
