Mike Brown's Pub of the Week - The Station Hotel in Patrington

Dave's picture

As you may have heard yesterday, Mike Brown, now he is a bigshot DJ, doesn't have time to get around and check out all manner of pubs and drinking venues for your weekly enjoyment anymore. He can't fit it in between his book signings, Wham playing and 'groupie duties.' So as I happened to mention that I quite fancied a roast dinner after the show, Mike took the opportunity to suggest the very nice Station Hotel In Patrington (Station Hotel, Station Road, Patrington, Tel - 01964630262) and then added "While you're there......" And so here I am.

Right, well here we go again.

Welcome to the Blog one and all. You will be pleased to know that in spite of the radical new look that the show will have this Sunday, the Blog will, to all intents and purposes be more or less the same. I'll get to all that in a minute, but first; I watched a film called The Orphanage on Tuesday, it was out the at the cinema at the beginning of the year and I never made it round to seeing it, so I bought it on tuesday and went straight home to watch and I have to be honest with you, it scared the bejesus out of me.

Hello.

Isn't Hello a great word? It can be used as a normal greeting - Hello. A really over the top, cheesy greeting - Hello!!!! Or as a means of expressing suprise - Hello! - Excellent.

Difficult to get the differences across here, admittedly, but you get the idea. Maybe I'll take you through it on the show on Sunday, or maybe not.

Hello.

Firstly the title, if you didn't hear the short snappy handover from my show into Mike's yesterday (between 1.45 and 2.15 or thereabouts I think) you won't have heard Mike struggling a bit with the technology in the studio, and in particular the speed of the minidisc players. He suggested that this would be a good title for a Blog, by which he meant his Blog, but I've stolen it!

Ah Hoy Hoy.

Firstly, no messing around, I apologise for Sunday's programme. Various problems occoured that I won't go into, unfortunately it left us without several important things, such as CD players and so we had to improvise as best we could. I think it sounded ok, and the emails and texts that were coming in seemed to be taking us down that route too, however, it wasn't as I'd have wished it, so my apologies.

Good day to you all.

How are things with you then? Yep, I'm great, thanks for asking.

As you know this would usually be where I chat about what I have been upto this week and therefore what you can expect to hear me talking about, amongst other things, on the show on Sunday. However, since Sunday I have done very very little so there is, as you can appreciate, a slight flaw in this usually watertight scheme.

Good Afternoon (assuming of course you're reading this in the afternoon and that it's not the first thing you check when you turn the computer on, bleary eyed at quarter to 9 in the morning. "Yes, he's updated it, look. Forget the Rice Krispies, come over here")

Well, it will all be back to normal this week I think and the dream Sunday line-up will return. Wake up to Andy, followed by 4 full hours of me and then Mike and his radio show taking you through to 6oclock. Sounds alright doesn't it.
